Rejinia (Ongais) Van Horn, 81, of Bremerton passed away Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. Many of her friends and family knew her as Virginia or Vi.
Born in Hilo, Hawaii, September 7, 1932, Rejinia was the daughter of the late Antonio and Juana (Flores) Ongais. She was a graduate of Hilo High School and was most recently employed by Catholic Community Services as a Home Health-care Aid before retiring in 2001. Prior to that she owned and operated her own business, “The Hive, Ceramic Gifts and Things”, and was a certified Duncan ceramics instructor. She won several awards for her ceramic works. She was also an accomplished cake decorator and had decorated cakes for several weddings and other occasions.
Active in the life of her church, Rejinia was a member of Kitsap Lake Baptist Church, Bremerton, WA. She was a former Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Director, Choir Director, and Sunday School Secretary. In addition she served with several other teams and positions.
Rejinia is survived by her daughter, Donna (Michael) Tanner of Silverdale, her son, Tim Van Horn of Bremerton, her siblings Daniel Ongais of California, Jerome, Doc, and Steven Ongais, Connie Wheeler, and Carmen Dusza, all of Hawaii, Mike Ongais of Washington, Camille Soldridge of Pennsylvania, and 2 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on January 11, 2014 at Kitsap Lake Baptist Church, 5802 Wilmont St, Bremerton. Interment will be at Homelani Memorial Park in Hilo, Hawaii.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kitsap Lake Baptist Church.
