Muriel Louise Rakestraw (Montgomery) 84 Nov. 16, 1928 - Feb. 11, 2013 Our beloved mother passed peacefully after a full and prosperous life despite having many lifelong health issues. Mom grew up in Snoqualmie, North Bend, and Sumner, with brother Richard Montgomery. Her parents, Andrew and Mable Montgomery, kept the family fed during the Great Depression with the help of a big garden and Andrew’s work as a logger for Weyerhauser in the Denny Creek area. Muriel married Clyde Daniel Gorrell in 1948 and they were married for 43 years until his passing in 1990. They had four children together and traveled extensively in the US, Canada, and Asia. She later married Samuel Rakestraw of Shelton, WA. After the passing of her second husband, she would later meet companion Gerald Robocker of Bremerton. Gerald and Muriel were together until her passing and we, her family, will be eternally grateful for the wonderful love and care he gave her.
Muriel is survived by son, Benjamin Clyde Gorrell of Tucson, AZ, her daughters and their husbands: Cora Ann & Gerald L. Daniels of Lake Wales, FL, and Lynn G. & Terry L. Clements of Port Orchard, WA; her grandchildren: Matthew Clements, Nena Clements, Wendy Daniels Stewman, Gerald C. Daniels, Elizabeth Gorrell; her great granddaughters: Nikita Shivler and Natasha Stewman; and her great great grandson John Perry Shivler VI. The youngest daughter, Susan Gorrell, predeceased her mother. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Diabetes Association.
