Joan B. Boeckl of Bremerton passed away on December 12, 2012 following a brief battle with lung cancer. Joan is survived by her loving husband of 60 yrs, Andy, two sons, James (Marcia) of Ashland , OR and Brian (Audra) of Bremerton , & two grandchildren Ken and Jennifer.

Joan was born to James & Luella Beaton in Milwaukee , WI on March 31, 1931 and was eldest of two daughters. Barbara her sister preceded her in death May 1996 in Anchorage , AK .

Joan and Andy met in Milwaukee , WI after his return from service in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. They fell in love and four months later eloped to Dubuque , IA on July 29, 1952. From there they headed to California to start a new life together where they started their family and eventually moving to the Bremerton area in 1976. Joan worked as a book-keeper for many years in California as well as Washington before retiring in 1989.

Joan committed her life and love to her family. Her engaging personality and sense of humor earned her many longtime friends throughout her life.

At Joan's request there will be no service, just fond memories. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Kitsap County and/or The American Cancer Society.
